Hello again, everyone! It’s Jade Murray, back with the second part of my digital
marketing journey with The Skills Network. I’m brimming with excitement (and possibly a bit too much caffeine) as I share the new skills and projects I’ve recently taken on in this thrilling adventure through the world of digital marketing.
Creating a Course Journal Video
One of the highlights of the second part of the course was creating a journal video that
captures our learning journey so far. This project allowed me to reflect on the skills I’ve acquired and the obstacles I’ve overcome, think of it like my own personal TED Talk, minus the audience and with much less applause.
As I crafted the narrative, I realised that not only did I want to showcase the technical aspects of what we've learned, but I also wanted to highlight my personal growth. Let’s just say it was a fulfilling experience that reinforced my interest in digital storytelling. However, recording my voice for the video was a strange feeling. I always think I sound like a famous movie star, but instead, I sounded more like a squirrel trying to narrate a documentary. But hey, we all have our unique sound, right?
Developing a Charity Promotion Video

Another exciting project was creating a promotional video for a charity. I chose the National Autism Society. This task really put my video editing skills to the test and challenged me to effectively convey the mission and impact of the organization. It turned out to be an amazing opportunity to think creatively about how to engage viewers emotionally and inspire action. Producing this video was both rewarding and enlightening—who knew that visual marketing could tug at the heartstrings while also helping me develop a new appreciation for the "cut" button?
Designing a Furniture Company’s Library Collection Poster

In addition to video projects, I worked on designing a poster for a furniture company’s new library collection. This project allowed me to apply my graphic design skills while thinking critically about branding and audience engagement. It was a fantastic opportunity to experiment with different design elements and create something appealing and functional and how to you call for actions techniques.
Updating My CV and Building Professional Skills
Consistency is key in digital marketing, and I’ve made it a priority to keep my CV updated regularly. I learned the importance of tailoring my CV for different job applications to highlight relevant skills and experiences. I also took the time to explore other online courses on platforms like Udemy and Coursera, focusing on Google Workspace and other essential tools. These additional courses have helped me develop complementary skills that are valuable in the job market.
Looking Ahead.
As I move forward, I’m excited to keep refining my skills and exploring new projects. With each task, I feel more confident in my abilities and inching ever closer to pursuing a career in digital marketing where, hopefully, my squirrel narration will delight rather than confuse.
Thank you for following along on this journey! I can’t wait to share more updates with you as I jump deeper into the ever evolving landscape of digital marketing.
