Diving into Digital Marketing
As a former creative freelancer in the film and TV industry, I was excited to embark on a new adventure and enhance my digital skills. After realising how crucial digital marketing is, especially since my friends were tired of me asking for marketing tips, therefore I decided to enrol in The Skills Network’s Digital Marketing Course.
Initially, committing to a 14-week program felt like signing up to climb Mount Everest without training. But here I am at WEEK 9 already! Time flies when you’re diving into search engine optimisation and learning about the roles within a marketing team.
This journey is uncovering exciting possibilities for me, and I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned.

WEEK 1

We began our journey by creating a new portfolio website using WIX. Since I had no prior experience with the platform, it felt like entering a whole new digital realm.
However, I quickly realised that this website would be good for showcase for my work and the marketing skills I am developing.

WEEK 2
Today, I ventured into video editing with CapCut, and it was like opening a treasure chest, if that chest had a confusing map! With zero experience, I somehow created a promotional video for the Mossley Hill Tennis Club in Liverpool. The platform was so user-friendly and I was genuinely amazed by how accessible the platform was for video creation, allowing me to produce quality content in just a short time. After finishing my video, we uploaded our projects to our individual YouTube channels.

WEEK 3
I'm in the midst of creating an anti-vape campaign. Since this is my first time working on a project like this, I found it somewhat challenging, especially since I haven't written anything to do with strategies in a while. Fortunately, I found a wealth of useful information online to assist me. I used Canva to design the campaign, providing me with a great opportunity to further develop my skills on the platform. We also created a website to promote our campaign. Throughout this process, I learned how to develop market research using surveys created on SurveyMonkey.

WEEK 4

I never understood why everyone was so obsessed with SEO, kind of felt like I missed the memo on a secret club! But now, I see how crucial it is for boosting website visibility. This course has shown me the ropes of keywords, backlinks, and meta tags.
With tools like Google Analytics and Semrush, I feel like I’ve scored a backstage pass to the SEO concert. Now I can sprinkle the right keywords like confetti and build backlinks that would impress even the most seasoned networkers.

WEEK 5
This week, we further developed our anti-vape Canva campaign. We focused on conducting a SWOT analysis, crafting compelling copy writing, and creating catchy taglines for our advertisements. Additionally, we examined the stages of the customer life cycle to enhance our approach.

WEEK 6
This week, we selected a charity to promote using the CapCut platform. I chose the National Autism Society because I have personal experience with neurodiversity and autism within my family, which has allowed me to understand the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families. My video highlights the support they provide, including information, resources, and advocacy for change with the government. I plan to reach out to them to explore opportunities for helping with their promotion in the future.

WEEK 7
This week, we dove into the world of CRM, or as I like to call it, Client Relationship Mastery( Marketing) because let’s be honest, getting to know your customers is like dating but with less awkward small talk. We’re officially over the halfway mark of the course, and I’ve picked up a bunch of useful knowledge along the way. I can’t wait to see what other surprises this adventure has in store for me! My goal is to keep polishing my portfolio and racking up views like they’re going out of style.

As part of a task, we were asked to create a poster for a company called Foundation Furniture Ltd to promote their new library furniture. I designed this using Canva, and here is my final outcome.
